Authentication Options

There are two ways to connect Gong to Bagel:

  1. Preferred Approach – Dedicated Gong User (Minimal Permissions)

We recommend creating a dedicated Gong user with restricted access.
This ensures strong security while giving Bagel the data it needs.
Bagel need only read access to call transcripts (extensive endpoint) and in some cases also read access to users and organization-related data (when SF companies are related). You can limit the created Gong user to the minimum set of permissions, and these restrictions will also apply to API access.

  2. Less Common – API Key

A technical admin may generate an access key directly or connect simply with OAuth2.0.
Note: This method is less secure because the access is broader and uncontrolled. Bagel recommend to only use this if creating a dedicated user is not possible.

Connection Methods

Once a suitable Gong user is created, you can authenticate using either OAuth2 or API Key.

Option A: OAuth2

  1. Click Connect with Gong.

  2. You will be redirected to Gong’s login page.

  3. Sign in to your Gong account.

  4. On the authorization screen, click Allow.

Option B: API Key

  1. Under Authentication Method, select API Key.

  2. Enter the access key provided by your admin.

  3. Click Connect with API Key.
